Facades

Facades is a series of images exploring the graphic nature of the silver gelatin print. I have considered both natural and man-made walls and surfaces which have experienced the impact of nature through weathering and time. I find there is a resonance between the two as a result. New walls tend to be less interesting visually due to their regularity and uniformity.

By emphasizing the two-dimensional aspect of these surfaces, I have tried to create “pure” or accurate portrayals. As always in visual arts, however, the final interpretation – whether literal or abstract – lies with the viewer.
